Global Electric Motorcars, LLC, a DaimlerChrysler company headquartered in Fargo, N.D., is a manufacturer of neighborhood electric vehicles (NEVs).
GEM gained notoriety when it provided 38 vehicles for the 2004 G8 Summit in Sea Island, Ga.
The custom-designed GEM electric vehicles were provided for the leaders of the participating governments’ transportation needs and decorated in their nation’s flag.
More than 30,000 are in use across the United Sates and internationally. GEM electric vehicles have a top speed of 25 mph and meet all federal safety standards for Low Speed Vehicles.
